Research Interests

My current project focuses on determination of the structure of isolated discs from rod cells by cryo-electron tomography and comparison to rod outer segment structures. These will then be compared to disc and rod outer segment structures from mouse models of human eye diseases.

Commonly used lab techniques

Negative stain and cryo-electron microscopy, as well as molecular modeling.

Why I chose Case's pharmacology department

The pharmacology department has access to a great structural facility in the Cleveland Center for Membrane and Structural Biology (CCMSB). Also, it was obvious that the program is rigorous and will help me develop into a great scientist.

Why I chose Case Western Reserve University

I chose to come to Case because not only is it a great institution for medical research and has great facilities, but also the people here are always friendly and willing to help. During my interview, that stood out about Case and ultimately led to my decision to attend.

Where I see myself in the future

I hope to get involved in science policy.

Hobbies and outside interests

Outside of my research interests, I enjoy watching sports (especially football), being outdoors, or playing board games.

Final Thoughts

The spice must flow.
